WA Supreme Court will not review Pac-12 case

OLYMPIA – The Washington Supreme Court Justices met Friday and issued a decision which said they will not review a lower court’s decision to give Washington State University and Oregon State University control of the Pac-12 Board of Directors.
UW and the other departing Pac-12 schools asked the Washington Supreme Court for discretionary or direct review of the case, saying it causes irreparable harm.
The justices’ decision leaves Whitman County Judge Gary Libey’s ruling in place. Last month, Libey ruled in favor of WSU’s and OSU’s motion to be the only two governing board members of the Pac-12 conference.
In a joint statement, Washington State President Kirk Schultz and Oregon State President Jayathi Murthy said they were pleased with the Washington Supreme Court’s decision and added, “We look forward to continuing our work of charting a path forward for the conference that is in the best interest of student-athletes and our wider university communities.”
