MILTON-FREEWATER – The Milton-Freewater City Council reports that now that Prothman, a professional recruiting agency in Issaquah, Washington, has held two meetings with community members on what qualities and qualifications they want in a city manager, a position profile will be compiled.
That profile will be used to develop a recruitment flyer that will be circulated nationwide to over 7,000 intended targets. That profile will then be posted on the Prothman website the week of Dec. 11.
The position advertising and active recruitment by Prothman staff will begin Jan. 2, 2024. The decision was made to delay recruitment outreach until after the holidays to give the city its best chance at recruiting the most qualified candidates.
Jan. 10 will begin the direct mailing of the position announcement and profile to a massive target of potential candidates.
The deadline for applicants to apply is Feb. 4 with Prothman screening the applications the weeks of Feb. 5 and 12.
Prothman will then share the top candidates with the council the week of Feb. 20 and set dates for interviews. Those interviews will likely be held in March with an intended start date for the new city manager being sometime in April. Milton-Freewater City Recorder Leanne Steadman started Dec. 1 as the new temporary assistant city manager. City Manager Linda Hall is retiring in January.
