WALLA WALLA – Detectives from the Walla Walla Police Department have apprehended Robert J. Frates, 40, on probable cause for burglary, malicious mischief, and theft. Frates was taken into custody on Nov. 28 following an investigation into recent commercial burglaries.
On Nov. 27, the Walla Walla Police Department received a report of a commercial burglary in the 2200 block of Melrose Street. An examination of video surveillance footage identified Frates as the primary suspect.
Later that day another burglary was reported on the 100 block of East Alder Street. Video surveillance from that location was examined, revealing distinct physical characteristics that matched those of Frates.
WWPD said Frates has a notorious history of burglary in the Walla Walla community.
