Nelson: Watch what you post for the holidays

HEPPNER – Porch pirates and car prowlers aren’t the only miscreants that can hurt people during the holidays. Morrow County District Attorney Justin Nelson warns people to watch what they post to social media when they’re attending celebrations away from home.
“If anyone sees that then someone with bad intentions realizes, ‘Hey, I know that house is empty,’” he said. “I know that family has posted that they’re out and they’re not home.”
Nelson says the safest route to take is to enjoy the celebration while it’s happening without posting.
“Don’t post that information until you get back home,” he said. “That’s one of the safest options to start out with to protect yourself as much as possible.”
