Primus wants to stay a DA

UMATILLA COUNTY – Sixth Circuit Court Judge Christopher Brauer is retiring at the end of the year. Gov. Tina Kotek will appoint a successor and a those seeking Brauer’s seat will be on the ballot this spring. Brauer was Umatilla County’s district attorney before he took the bench, but current Umatilla County District Attorney Dan Primus said he’s not ready to run for a judgeship yet.
“I really care about this job,” he said. “I’ve been in this position for 12 years and I’ve been in the DA’s office for 15. It really does feel like a home for me. I love the work that I do. I love the support from the community. The people I get to come to work with everyday makes a difference in your life, and that’s how I feel about the people that I work with here.”
He said that there could come a day when he would seek a judgeship, but that time is not now. Instead, Primus said he will be filing for reelection.
“I haven’t put my name in yet to run for the DA, but I will be putting my name in to run again,” he said.
