Harney County Schools honors Veterans

Harney County-For several years Harney County School District #3 has held an assembly every November to honor Veterans. The day starts out for the Veteran and their spouses to have breakfast in the Burns High School Cafeteria then moved to the gym where Slater Elementary and Hines Middle School join the festivities.

The assembly honors Veterans with a video of local Veterans and several speeches. The assembly starts out with the children standing as the flags are carried into the gym while all the children sing “God Bless America”. This is a tradition that started several years ago with the former Superintendent Steve Quick.
