PENDLETON – The Pendleton Police Department responded to reports from residents they heard several shots fired in the area of Riverview Mobile Estates, 2712 NE Riverside Ave. The calls came in at around 12:52 a.m. Tuesday and police were on the scene at 12:56.
Police Chief Chuck Byram says that while police were unable to locate anyone at the scene, they were directed by witnesses to a specific trailer where they located several spent shell casings from a handgun on the road in front of that trailer. They found a bullet hole in the trailer and in a vehicle in front of the trailer.
“When contacted, the occupants of the trailer were uncooperative, which was not surprising based on past contacts with those residing in the trailer,” Byram wrote in an email. “Officers collected evidence in an effort to identify those responsible for firing the shots. Based on all evidence thus far, this was a targeted incident.”
