Winter has arrived on the Steens

Harney County (Released by BLM Oregon and Washington)-Winter has arrived!
the upper portions of the Steens Mountain Loop Road are closed for the winter. For now, travelers can still reach Jackman Park and South Steens Campground by car, Seasonal storms will eventually close the entire road.
Want to visit Steens Mountain in the snow?
As soon as conditions permit, winter recreation activities like cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and limited snowmobiling will be in full swing. Know before you go:
