Corrections officer sentenced for drug trafficking

RICHLAND, Washington – A former corrections officer at the Washington State Penitentiary in Walla Walla will spend five years in federal prison for her role in a large drug trafficking organization.

Court records show Leticia Rodriguez, 44, served as a courier for cocaine, fentanyl, methamphetamine, as well as large amounts of money between Eastern Washington, Arizona, and California. The organization involved used a legitimate landscaping business to cover up its drug trafficking activities.

The case was investigated by the DEA, Walla Walla Police Department, Milton-Freewater Police Department, and the Washington State Penitentiary in Walla Walla.
