WALLA WALLA – The Walla Walla Fire Department was dispatched at 5:01 p.m. Thursday to the 700 block of Hobson Street for a residential structure fire. The initial reporting party advised that there was a lot of smoke coming from the basement. Responding units were also told the residence had been evacuated.
When firefighters arrived, they found light smoke showing from the residence’s basement area in the rear of the structure. After confirming all occupants were safely out of the home, crews immediately went to work extinguishing the fire, which was isolated to the structure’s basement. Fire crews had the fire under control at 5:13 p.m.
The were no injuries reported to occupants or firefighters. Red Cross was contacted and responded to
assist with the family, as they were displaced due to the fire.
The estimated value loss is $135,000. City fire investigators have listed the cause of the fire as undetermined.
As part of a mutual-aid agreement, Walla Walla Walla County Fire District No. 4 also responded.
