Woman killed in Wallowa County UTV crash

WALLOWA COUNTY — A woman was killed and her husband seriously injured after a UTV crash in Wallowa County.

It happened on Sunday afternoon, October 15, 2023, at around 2:30 pm, as three couples embarked on a UTV ride off Cherry Creek in Northeastern Wallowa County.

A trail beneath the lead UTV the couple was riding gave way, causing the vehicle to roll downhill. The husband and wife on board suffered injuries in the accident. Emergency services, including Life Flight, swiftly responded to the scene. Despite their efforts, the wife succumbed to her injuries and tragically passed away.

The injured husband was airlifted to Wallowa Memorial Hospital, where he received medical treatment for his wounds.

Wallowa County Deputy Dale Blankenship, Oregon State Police Senior Trooper Brian Miller, Wallowa County Search and Rescue, and Joseph Fire responded and assisted with the rescue. 

The woman’s name has not been released as law enforcement attempts to notify next-of-kin.
