RITZVILLE – The U.S. Department of Energy is providing $1 billion dollars to Washington, Oregon, and Montana for hydrogen production. Sen. Mark Schoesler (R-Ritzville) said there’s an obvious reason why they chose this part of the country. It wouldn’t be possible without dams.
“This would not happen without hydropower,” Schoesler said. “I hope the people advocating for this new hydrogen production project in our state will recognize and respect the role that our dams and hydropower system played in Washington being part of this regional hydrogen hub.”
Schoesler said the funding will establish eight hydrogen production sites across the three states.
