JOHN DAY / PRAIRIE CITY – Grant County Juvenile Department Director Cindy Tirico, along with Juvenile Counselor Mike McManus swung by KJDY Studios to discuss online dangers that threaten our local youth. Thanks to grant funding, the department was able to secure a week’s worth of local trainings with Detective Richard Wistocki, a High Technology Crimes Specialist out of Illinois.

Counselor McManus said there will be useful information for everyone, including law enforcement, parents, community members and local youth:

“Richard will be in town for the whole week. Monday and Tuesday is going to be a training for law enforcement and school administration. Wednesday, we’ll be at Prairie [City] Schools, doing school assemblies and then we’ll do a parent night also. Thursday will be at Grant Union–school assemblies, parent night–then on Friday we’re going to do another training for local school staff.

At the Juvenile Department, we had some grant funding to get him here. We just feel this is a very, very important thing in modern times just to keep our community and our children safe.”
