UPDATE – October 12 at 3:30pm

ONTARIO – (Release by Malheur County District Attorney) On October 11, 2023 shortly after 7pm, local law enforcement and the Oregon State Police swat team began an operation on the believed location of Conner Fry in Ontario, with the goal of arresting him on a judicially approved warrant. The location was determined after hours of cell phone pings done on the number known to belong to Conner Fry remained in the same general location. As SWAT got in position and before their operation truly began, Conner Fry was seen exiting a shed and then taking cover in dense vegetation nearby. As team members proceeded to their staging locations, a muffled gunshot was heard. The team confirmed over the radio that no member of law enforcement had fired any type of weapon. Not knowing what possible threat remained, OC gas was deployed where Conner Fry was believed to be. After no movement or surrender occurred, several less lethal rounds (not deadly bullets) were fired in an attempt to make Conner Fry come out of the vegetation. When he did not move, SWAT approached with caution. Once near Conner Fry, zip tie restraints were placed on his wrists and he was checked for a pulse. Having no signs of life, he was moved and the area near him was inspected. He appeared to have died from a self-inflicted shotgun wound, as he was lying on a shotgun. Later the shotgun was found to contain one spent casing, and Conner Fry had multiple other unspent shotgun rounds stored in his clothing.

Throughout the night, the scene was mapped and searched for any further evidence.
The investigation continues to ensure that all evidence is sought and all leads followed.
