ATHENA – The Oregon Legislature held Legislative Days last week. Sen. Bill Hansell (R-Athena) said after a meeting of the leadership of both houses, he heard some encouraging news.
“It looks like they’re really going to work very hard not to have any controversial issues in the short session,” he said.
The 35-day session was approved for even years by voters to be a time to make budget adjustments, fix bills that caused unintended consequences, and deal with emergencies. In recent years, major policy bills like the carbon tax, have been proposed.
“We’ll go back to the reason why the voters approved the short session to begin with,” he said. “We will look at making tweaks for unintended consequences, budget tweaks, and different emergencies that have come up.”
