GRANT COUNTY – According to a Forest Service release, fire resources from Blue Mountain Ranger District responded to the report of a wildfire approximately 4.5 miles west of Greenhorn, near Tempest Mine, on Friday. The Blackeye fire quickly got 100% lined and contained at a quarter acre. Find the news release below:

Size: .25 acre
Cause: Under Investigation
Fuels: Grass, brush and timber
Location: Approximately 4.5 miles west of Greenhorn near Tempest Mine. T10 R34 Section 14.
Status: Fire resources are on scene from Blue Mountain Ranger District. Crews currently have the fire 100% lined, contained and are continuing to mop up.
The Malheur National Forest has seen cooler temperatures and precipitation over the last week. Today brings the first day of fall, remember to recreate responsibly. While camping don’t leave campfires unattended and always fully extinguish them before leaving.
