Northeast Oregon Cultural Groups Receive Thousands in 2024 Grant Funds

EASTERN OREGON – (Information from the Oregon Cultural Trust) The Oregon Cultural Trust recently announced the recipients of fiscal year 2024 grant allocations. Of the roughly three million dollars distributed by the trust, $42,315 are bound for Northeast Oregon organizations. These funds are split between two primary types of grants. The first type are Cultural Development Grants meant to support specific projects and programs. The second type are Cultural Participation Grants for county/tribal cultural coalitions which will be used to support their respective communities. These grants and the projects/organizations they’re going to support, (as listed by the Oregon Cultural Trust) are as follows:

 County Cultural Coalition Grants:

• Baker County, $8,070
• Union County, $9,053
• Wallowa County, $7,078

Cultural Development Grants

• Flora School Education Center, Enterprise: $6,944 To support access to Flora School’s activities, inside and out, for disabled attendees, volunteers, teachers and students by building an elevated wheelchair ramp. The elevated ramp will allow those with limited mobility to enter the school for the first time, and every time after, without concern for the navigation of steps.

• Friends of The Historic Union Community Hall, Union: $5,272 To support a community asset by repairing 14 high priority-stained glass windowpanes at the Catherine Creek Community Center located in Union, Oregon. The Catherine Creek Community Center is housed in a beautiful historic property and serves as a location for numerous community programs, events and resources.

• Grande Ronde Symphony Association, La Grande: $5,898 To support and maintain the quality of performances by the Grande Ronde Symphony orchestra through the provision of a professional music director and outreach to regional musicians, thereby connecting a diverse audience to the joy of orchestral music.
