JOHN DAY / PRAIRIE CITY – The Malheur National Forest has posted information identifying a washout on sections of a popular trail in the Strawberry Wilderness.
Slide Basin Trail #372 has sections that have been washed out, making it difficult to traverse after the Tie-in Trail junction to the Skyline Trail.
The Forest Service recommends avoiding the Slide Basin Trail between the Tie-in Trail #5006 and the Skyline Trail #385.
Also, speaking of the Malheur National Forest, the North Zone, which includes the Prairie City and Blue Mountain Ranger Districts, has moved to “Low” fire danger.
With significant moisture throughout the area the fire danger level was lowered, but conditions will continue to be monitored over the next few weeks as weather conditions change. Follow updates at fs.usda.gov/malheur.
