LA GRANDE – (Release from Eastern Oregon University) The NAIA has announced its 2022 preseason rankings via the 2023 NAIA Women’s Volleyball Coaches’ Top 25 Poll. Eastern Oregon Volleyball is ranked No. 3 in the country heading into the upcoming campaign.

Eastern is coming off of its most successful season to date, finishing with a 34-3 overall record while holding the No. 1 spot for four straight NAIA rankings in the 2022 season. The Mountaineers National Championship hopes fell just short after falling in the NAIA National Championship Semifinals.

Rating Methodology

  • The rating was voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences/Continental Athletic Conference (Independents/unaffiliated groups.
  • The Coaches Top 25 is determined by a points system based on how each voter ranks the best teams. A team receives 30 points for each first-place vote, 29 for second place and so on through the list.
  • The highest and lowest ranking for each team (a non-rating is considered a low rating) is removed and the team’s ranking will be recalculated with an additional point added to each team for every ballot (including discounted ballots) that the teams appear on.
  • Teams that receive only one point on the ballot are not considered “receiving votes”

Eastern Oregon will open their season Thursday Aug. 16 as they take on the College of Saint Mary (Neb.) at the Big Sky Challenge in Butte, Mont. Game time is scheduled for 10 a.m. MST.
