UMATILLA COUNTY – There was a time when people couldn’t get a concealed handgun license from Umatilla County and it had nothing to do with Oregon’s new gun control law which is being challenged in both federal and state courts.
“It was because the printer that prints those cards went down,” Sheriff Terry Rowan said. “It took an extended amount of time to get a replacement in.”
The replacement is now operating.
The application form for a concealed license is on the Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office website. Handgun safety training is required and the eligibility requirements are listed at https://www.co.umatilla.or.us/sheriff/departments/sheriff/civil-1.
After filling out the form and paying the applicable fees, an appointment is scheduled. At that appointment, the applicant is photographed and fingerprinted.
