Prairie City sells cell tower lease for over $500K

PRAIRIE CITY – Prairie City Mayor Scott Officer updated KJDY and News 102 listeners recently regarding the sale of a cell phone tower lease:

“Our cell tower that sits over on the hill above the water tank—that leases to Amertower [American Tower Company]. They had approached the city quite some time ago with wanting to purchase, lump sum…buy out the lease.

We extended the terms on that lease to, I believe, 2055, but then we sold it out lump sum. The money’s in the bank now, finally. We received $553,775.”

The Mayor said so far, with that money the city was able to pay off a loan with the Bank of Eastern Oregon from an old sewer project.
