SALEM – Four wolves from the Five Points Pack in Union and Umatilla counties have been removed. The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife has thus closed the permit for the lethal removal.
The pack was ruled responsible due to chronic depredations. Two adult females, one adult male, and a yearling female were taken on four separate days in July and early August on the forest allotment of one of the producers impacted.
Meanwhile, ODFW has authorized the lethal removal of two chronically depredating wolves from the Lookout Mountain Pack in Baker County at the request of a livestock producer. That pack has chalked up five confirmed depredations since January. The most recent one was confirmed on July 26. The permit allows the producers or their agents to take up to two wolves on private-land pastures or Bureau of Land Management allotments where their livestock is present. The permit is valid either until two wolves are removed or Nov. 15.
