UMATILLA COUNTY – The Oregon Department of Transportation has announced repairs on Oregon Highway 37 begin Thursday, Aug. 10. The Pendleton Cold Springs Highway was damaged by floods shortly after Christmas.

The damage was caused by rapid snow melt, leaving three vehicles stranded in mud and high water. No injuries were reported. The damage was not caused by high river water. It was due to draining wheat fields and debris washed down from hills. As much as six inches of mud was reported across parts of the roads at the time of the flooding.

ODOT maintenance crews will reduce traffic to one lane from milepost 9 about a half mile northeast of South Cold Springs Road to milepost 17 three miles northwest of the junction with OR 334. Drivers can expect flaggers, delays of up to 20 minutes and rough roads.

After the damaged asphalt, road base, and shoulders are repaired the road will be repaved. Work should be completed by Aug. 31.
