CANYON CITY – UPDATE: More has come in regarding Michael Burnham, a man recently convicted of Theft in the First and Second Degrees, as well as Aggravated Theft in the First Degree.
Elkhorn Media Group got in touch with Silvies Valley Ranch Owner Scott Campbell. Campbell said that Burnham used to work for the ranch as a Comptroller. According to the owner, Burnham had formed an elaborate plan to steal money from the company during his time with them.
Campbell said, “He was making sure everything was going into the computer right, and he figured out a way to take the money from the company and put it into his own account. He used multiple credit cards.”
Apparently, Burnham also was responsible for significant software damage in efforts to prevent the thefts from being discovered. Campbell said that in all, Michael Burnham had stolen around $33,000 from Silvies Valley Ranch. When asked to provide a statement, Scott Campbell said, “We always hire locally first, so we don’t end up in situations like that. Thankfully, he’s back in Portland where he belongs.”
