Fire consumes standing wheat, grass in Athena

ATHENA – East Umatilla Fire and Rescue responded Thursday afternoon to a two-acre standing wheat and grass fire on Mansfield Road.
Crews responded at 1:06 p.m. and when they arrived, farmers were there putting a disc line around the fire and working on getting the fire contained. Firefighters and farmers worked together to put the fire out.
No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
