Harney County, Mann Lake Fire update

Harney County-There was low to moderate fire activity. Crews worked to establish more containment lines and tackled hot spots throughout.
The afternoon heat and winds invited more air resources with water and retardant support. Mapping shows the incident to be around 660 acres on both private and BLM administered public land.
The High Desert Type 3 incident Management Tear will assume control of the fire this morning. Incident Management Teams provide command and infrastructure for managing people and resources on a complex wildfire, freeing up some of out local resources in case new incidents arise.
Mann Lake Recreation Site is closed to the public until further notice to allow for an incident base camp. Please avoid the East Steens Road and Mann Lake area if at all possible. The cause of the fire is undetermined and we will share more information as it becomes available.
