Canyon City grass fire grows to a quarter acre

CANYON CITY – Yesterday afternoon, a call came in to the Grant County Emergency Dispatch Center regarding a grass fire near Church Street in Canyon City. The Canyon City Fire Department, John Day Fire Department, and Oregon Department of Forestry all responded. Wildcad.net reports the fire grew to about a quarter of an acre before crews got it under control. A cause was not listed.
