JOHN DAY – The Malheur National Forest recently posted to social media regarding a project on the Blue Mountain Ranger District. Work is to set begin along Butte Creek, up the Middle Fork, next week and will continue through August. The project includes upland thinning, removing barriers, adding large wood, and promoting stream meandering. The Forest Service release states that the agency acknowledges it may look messy now, but they expect revegetation within the next few years.
