JOHN DAY – Grant County Emergency Management Coordinator Eric Bush this morning explained the importance for property owners and livestock owners to have a plan in place should an emergency strike due to wildfire:
“It’s really important to at least have thought through, if you do have a fire that threatens your home or your property, how are you going to handle your animals—particularly your large animals?
Down in California, a couple of years ago [during the] Paradise Fires, there were people who, in permanent marker, wrote their phone number on the hooves of their horses and turned them loose.”
