PENDLETON – The Pendleton School District is seeking help with an unexpected jump in enrollment at McKay Creek Elementary School.
“Our projected numbers are very high for first grade at McKay Elementary,” Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment Matt Yoshioka said. “It’s high enough that we felt like we needed to find a way to hire a one-year temporary teacher.”
He said that whether the position could become permanent depends strictly on the district’s future enrollment figures.
“We’re just not sure where enrollment will end up,” he said. “We’re not sure where the shifting will happen in enrollment between school boundaries.”
PSD is also looking for a first grade teacher in a permanent position at Washington Elementary School, Yoshioka said.
