ECHO – Oregon Rep. Bobby Levy (R-Echo) says that when she considers the Legislature’s 2023 session as a whole, she would give it a B+.
“At the very end, when the Republican senators negotiated the comeback, they got parental rights put back into one of the most egregious bills I have ever seen go through, House Bill 2002B,” she said. “Before that, as young as age 10 a child could go in and have an abortion without a parent knowing anything about it.”
Levy said the GOP senators also successfully removed all but a ban on ghost guns from a gun control measure.
She said that there were important bills for Eastern Oregon that passed, including one that makes it easier for parents to leave their farms to their children by lowering the death tax. However, she said, the region did not do well in areas where it had requested state funding for projects.
“My personal belief is the reason they didn’t do well is because we’re still in the minority,” Levy said.
She said there are seats up for grabs in Oregon that aren’t part of the Democrat stronghold, and added that if people in rural Oregon really want change they should donate to political action committees that are focusing on having Republicans run in those areas.
