Council considers lease for Kayak

HERMISTON – The Hermiston City Council meets this evening (Monday) at 7 at Hermiston City Hall. Among the items on the agenda are the final plat of both Highland meadows Phase 2 on East Highland Avenue and View Wood Estates Phase 1 on East View Drive.

The council will hold a public hearing on a proposal that the city be exempted from the competitive bidding requirement in order to bring an architecture firm on board to design and build renovations to the Hermiston Public Library and Harkenrider Senior Center as well as complete the unfinished portion of the basement in the new city hall.

Also on the agenda is a proposed lease with Kayak Public Transit for a lot at the Hermiston Airport. Kayak wants to build a bus barn there. The council will also consider renewing its transportation services agreement with Kayak and the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation. They operate the Hermiston HART bus route.

Prior to the meeting, the council will hold a work session at 6 p.m. to discuss the transient room tax and the airport.
