LMS Staff Breakroom renovations are now complete thanks to PTO and volunteers

LA GRANDE – The La Grande Middle School (LMS) Staff Breakroom’s facelift has been completed.  For the last couple of months volunteers with the LMS PTO and others have been working on upgrading the space.

In May, a group worked on upcycling furniture, adding new curtains and giving counters a cosmetic update. That update can be found at https://elkhornmediagroup.com/lms-pto-gives-the-school-staff-breakroom-a-facelift-donations-needed-for-phase-2/Since that time, the remaining work on the floor has been completed.  According to PTO co-president Shaya Rollins, “On Thursday June 8th our PTO met at LMS and began emptying the room and removing carpet, with help from; Savannah Altenburg, Shayla Rollins, Kaycee St. Claire, Emma Grigg, Jamie Daniel, Laurie Austin and all their children. LJH Construction donated all the labor and began laying new laminate flooring donated by Eastern Oregon Rentals on June 12th.  Shayla Rollins and Savannah Altenburg returned to the school on Friday June 16th, they installed a new sink donated by Miller’s Lumber and wall treatment and faucet donated by Legacy Ford. The room was put back together and is ready for a brand new year for teachers and staff at La Grande Middle School. It was important for us to show our appreciation by creating a refreshing space where teachers and staff could take a moment for themselves. We want to thank our community for all the donations and volunteer work  it took to make this happen.  A special thank you to Kevin Browning for the initial tour of the LMS Annex inspiring this entire project and to Manly Brothers Logging for the lumber donated for our furniture projects.”
