Temporary Road Closure on National Forest System Road 67

UNION/BAKER COUNTIES – (Release from the U.S. Forest Service) On the La Grande Ranger District, the Forest Service is reporting that the 67 Road (Big Creek) is closed approximately 1.0 mile from the junction of National Forest System (NFS) Road 67 with NFS Road 77 due to a washout. There is currently no access from Medical Springs to Eagle Creek via NFS Road 67.

Alternative routes to Eagle Creek are:



  • From State Highway 86 up Sparta grade to Forshey Meadows then down NFS Road 7015 (Empire Gulch) to Eagle Creek.
  • From State Highway 86 to New Bridge, Oregon to NFS Road 7735, then take NFS Road 7720 to NFS Road 77. Go west on NFS Road 77 to Eagle Creek. You can also go to New Bridge and then over to Sparta then through Forshey Meadows down to Eagle Creek.
  • From State Highway 86 to the top of the Halfway grade, turn on NFS Road 77. Eagle Creek is approximately 17 miles from the beginning of NFS Road 77.

All 3 of these routes are currently open and free of snow. NFS Road 77 from Catherine Creek summit to Eagle Creek is still blocked with snow from Taylor Green to West Eagle Meadows. This route is not expected to be open until approximately July 1st.
