OREGON – (Information from the Oregon Department of Emergency Management) With temperatures expected to reach near 90 degrees before the end of May, Oregonians may be dreading the thought of parking in the sun. However, your car heating up is more than just a painful inconvenience, as the Oregon Department of Emergency Management (OEM) reminds vehicle owners that temperatures inside cars can quickly go beyond just uncomfortable to potentially lethal.
According to the OEM, a vehicle exposed to 80-degree external temperatures will experience the following internal temperature increase:
Never leave a pet, child or other person in a hot car, no matter the circumstances.
