Three Mounties Earn Academic All-District Honors

LA GRANDE – (Release from Eastern Oregon University) College Sports Communicators (former known as College Sports Information Directors of America) announced the 2022-23 Academic All-District Baseball and Softball Teams on Tuesday. Eastern Oregon University was well represented with three players being recognized for their combined work in the classroom and on the field.
 
Earning the award was Maddy StatelerKaylin Winans, and Mckenna Stallings. The CSC Academic All-America program separately recognizes baseball and softball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
 
Stateler was the only hitter to earn the award for EOU. She had a stellar year at the plate hitting .354 while starting all 52 games for the Mounties. She led the team in at bats, hits, and doubles and was second on the team in batting average. Stateler was also named Second Team All-Conference at the conclusion of the season.
 
Kaylin Winans was a key arm for the Mounties this year throwing the third most innings on the team. She had an ERA of 6.53 and totaled 11 strikeouts in 10 appearances for the Mounties.
 
EOU’s third selection, Mckenna Stalling was another key player in the circle for Eastern. She was second on the team in innings pitched throwing 31 and a third innings in 10 appearances. She finished the season with an ERA of 6.26 and struck out  15 batters on the year while earning two wins.
