PRAIRIE CITY – The City of Prairie City are looking to increase police presence in city limits if they can. Mayor Scott Officer said there will be a budget hearing tonight to talk about potentially doubling the local patrols:
“We’re already under contract with the Sheriff’s Office for 20 hours a week, and I’ve has some discussions and if we can get it into the budget, that would allow me to go into negotiations with the Sheriff about increasing that amount of time that we pay up to 40 hours a week. [That] would then allow us to get some ordinance enforcement in Prairie City.”
The budget hearing begins at 6 p.m. this evening (Wednesday).
