EOU’s Maggie Ledbetter and Tanner Nett Named CCC Field Athletes of the Week

LA GRANDE – (Release from Eastern Oregon University) The Cascade Collegiate Conference announced the Rize Laboratory Players of the Week on Monday afternoon. Eastern Oregon Track and Field continues to collect hardware as a pair of EOU throwers, Maggie Ledbetter and Tanner Nett, took home Field Athlete of the Week honors.
Women’s Outdoor Track & Field – Field Athlete – Maggie Ledbetter
Ledbetter had another dominant weekend earning Rize Laboratory Women’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week for the third time this season. The graduate student made the finals in all three of her events at the OSU High Performance Meet (shot put, hammer throw, and discus) while posting “A” Standard marks in the shot put (14.27m) and hammer throw (50.57m). She finished with a throw of 41.24 meters in the discus.
“Maggie continues to be on a roll,” Head Coach Ben Welch said. “It is always gratifying to see such a hard worker being rewarded for their years of hard work.”
Men’s Outdoor Track & Field – Field Athlete – Tanner Nett
Nett continues to be a force to be reckoned with in the throws, especially in the shot where he posted the nation’s fifth best throw of the 2023 outdoor season to this point. His “A” Standard mark of 16.70 meters in the shot earned him a third-place finish at the Oregon State High Performance Meet. The sophomore also posted a mark of 41.23 meters in the hammer throw and 40.31 meters in the discus. This week’s award marks his second of the outdoor season.
“Tanner continues to put things together in the shot and is closing in on the oldest EOU Track and Field record on the books,” Welch said. (Current record belongs to Don Lewis set in 1972).
