One injured, extensive damage reported, investigation into the fire is ongoing

LA GRANDE – At around 01:24 am (4/20/23) La Grande Fire and La Grande Rural Fire District were dispatched to a 1st alarm residential structure fire at 906 N Avenue. 

According to Captain Ployhar with the La Grande Fire Department, “frst arriving engine crews found heavy fire involvement located at the rear of the home.  A 2nd alarm was immediately called for additional personnel to respond.” 

Reports suggest that the house suffered extensive fire damage to the main level and 2nd-floor level of the home. A daylight basement suffered heavy smoke/water damage. 

One occupant of the house was injured in the fire and transported to Grande Ronde Hospital.  

Captain Ployhar notes that the fire is currently under investigation with the assistance of the Oregon State Fire Marshall.   

La Grande Fire Dept was assisted by two engines and a chief from La Grande Rural Fire District, one engine from Imbler Fire Department and one ambulance from Union Ambulance.   A total of 24 firefighters and EMT responded to this incident.
