Community Wildfire Defense Grant to fund 100,000 acres of grass treatment

GRANT COUNTY – We recently learned that Grant Soil Water Conservation District was the recipient agency of around $10 million in funding from the Community Wildfire Defense Grant. Kyle Sullivan with GSWCD was on KJDY’s Coffee Time and explained that part of the funding will be dedicated to annual grass treatments:
“Overall, I can mention we have about 100,000 acres is what we’ve got funded out of that grant for annual grasses. We’re really excited about that opportunity. I’ve mentioned, too, it fits in well with the other efforts by Department of Forestry, NRCS, the Forest Service—to treat on a larger scale.”
