EOU’s Tanner Nett Named CCC Field Athlete of the Week

LA GRANDE – (Release from Eastern Oregon University) The Cascade Collegiate Conference announced this week’s Athlete of the Week Awards presented by Rize Laboratories on Monday afternoon. EOU had one athlete earn the honor as Tanner Nett was named the CCC Field Athlete of the Week for his performance over the weekend at the Whitworth Peace Meet. This week’s award marks the second of the year for Nett.
The sophomore had a stellar weekend in Spokane highlighted by his performance in the shot put. Nett finished second overall just behind the University of Idaho’s Noah Culbertson. His mark of 16.08 meters earned him a spot in the NAIA National Championships as an “A” Standard and was an outdoor personal record.
The Boise native also competed in the discus and hammer throw where he finished 21st and 8th respectively.
Nett and the Mountaineers will return to action next weekend at the Larry Byerly L&C Invite in Portland on Friday and Saturday as well as the Northwest Nazarene Invitational on Saturday in Nampa, Idaho.
