Investigators determine house fire was intentionally set

WALLA WALLA – Fire investigators have determined a residential structure fire on the 1800 block of Evergreen Street was intentionally set by one of the tenants at 12:42 a.m. Saturday.

When firefighters arrived, they found light smoke showing from the first floor of the home. After confirming all occupants were safely out of the home, they went to work extinguishing the fire which was located on the first floor.

Due to smoke inhalation and burn injuries, two occupants were transported to Providence St. Mary Medical Center. There were no injuries to firefighters.

Damage is estimated at $150,000.

Crews from the Walla Walla Fire Department were assisted by Walla Walla County Fire District No. 4 as part of a mutual aid agreement.
