EOU Track and Field Continues to Climb National Rating Index

LA GRANDE – (Release from Eastern Oregon University) The U.S. Track and Field and Cross-Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) released the Week 2 edition of the NAIA Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track & Field National Rating Indexes for the 2023 outdoor season. Eastern Oregon University continued its upward ascent in both the women’s and men’s ratings sitting in the top 30 nationally. The women broke into the top 10 nationally at No. 10 while moving up to No. 3 in the West Region. The men moved up to No. 27 overall and remained at No. 6 in the region.
Eastern Oregon’s Outdoor Track and Field team has gotten off to a strong start this spring. Through three competitions the Mountaineers already have posted eight “A” and “B” Standard marks, five for the women and three for the men.
On the women’s side the Mounties added three new “B” standard marks since the last rating, all coming in the heptathlon. The trio of Elizabeth Grandle, Sammy Conley, and Karli Bedard all opened the outdoor season last weekend with “B” marks giving them a chance at making it to the NAIA Championships in May.
The men haven’t had any more qualifications since the last rating but did pick up a CCC Athlete of the Week award after last weekend’s performance. Judson Mansfield was named the CCC Field Athlete of the Week for his performance in the decathlon at the Pacific University Multi meet last weekend
The next event scheduled for the Mountaineers starts today as Eastern heads to Spokane, Wash. for the Whitworth Peace Meet.
