PENDLETON – Work to correct problems in the Pendleton Aquatic Center’s lap and leisure pools is underway. Pendleton Parks and Recreation Director Liam Hughes said the work is proceeding quickly and he’s used to it by now.

“If you left your car in the driveway all winter and then you fire it up in the summer, there’s always going to be something,” he said.

City crews recently cut out a big pipe in the mechanical room that is a return for the dive pool that had rusted out and needs to be changed out. In addition, a pipe broke under the leisure pool which requires expert repairs.

“It’s going to involve cutting the bottom of the pool and relaying lines and jets under the pool,” he said.

Work on that by Anderson Poolworks of Wilsonville has already begun. Meanwhile, summer jobs for the facility are posted on the city’s website at https://pendleton.or.us/jobs.
