Enterprise FFA Earns Proficiencies and Degrees at State Convention

ENTERPRISE – (Release from Enterprise FFA) This year we had 19 students attend the Oregon FFA State Convention in Redmond, Oregon March 16th – March 19th.
We had 10 State Degree recipients this year. The state degree is the highest degree awarded in the state. In order to achieve this degree, students must earn and invest over $1500, have participated in 30 FFA activities, and have a record of 500 or more hours in their project as well as over 25 hours of community service.

– Lily Royes
– Makenna Suter
– Quincee Zacharias
Ag Issues Team:
We also had an Agricultural Issues team that presented on the issue of dams along the Snake and Columbia Rivers and impacts on agriculture and water systems. This team consisted of:

– Jordyn Ellis
– Lydia Yost
– Alisha Melville
Proficiency Awards:
Proficiency award areas showcase students who are outstanding in their agricultural field. This year we had 6 applications move on from the district level and 5 moving on to nationals.
This year’s proficiency finalists were:
– Maclane Melville: Grain Production & Fiber/Oil Production
– Harlie Stein: Agricultural Processing & Star Agribusiness
– Morgan Cameron: Agricultural Sales
– Madison Wigen: Equine Science
– Codi Cunningham: Diversified Agriculture Production

Talent Contest:
Kimber Stein played a beautiful piano piece in the state talent competition.
Scholarship Awards:
This year we had 2 students win scholarship awards. Lane Rouse won a senior scholarship sponsored by the state FFA alumni and will be attending lineman school this summer. Codi Cunningham received a scholarship to attend the Washington Leadership Conference this summer in Washington DC and will be bringing back new skills and service ideas to our chapter and community.
We were lucky to have with us 2 visiting from our sister chapter in Hope, Indiana. They attended the state convention with us and toured many local business in Wallowa County. We are fortunate to be able 4 of our own chapter members to them this spring to experience agriculture in Indiana.
