Power supply inadequacy moves to WA Senate

OLYMPIA – House Bill 1117, the power supply inadequacy bill, authored by Rep. Gina Mosbrucker (R-Goldendale) has a public hearing scheduled on Friday at 8 a.m. before the Senate Environment, Energy and Technology Committee.
The measure, which passed the House unanimously on March 4, would ensure that the state continually addresses plans to help avoid energy blackouts, brownouts, or other inadequacies of the electric grid. Last year, this bill passed the House and Senate unanimously, but when it arrived on the governor’s desk, he vetoed it.
Mosbrucker said the bill has strong support in the Legislature.
“I’ve worked this year with governor’s office to address his concerns and I think we have a bill that will pass his approval,” she said.
The legislative session is scheduled to end April 23.
