BAKER CITY – (Release from Baker Relief Nursery) For families experiencing hardships, the youngest children are often the ones that suffer the most. With a mission to support rural children and families to be safe and successful, Baker Relief Nursery works to lessen unnecessary stress by providing diapers and wipes to local families that need it the most. “When a parent is impacted by financial stress, they will stretch how long their diapers and wipes will last,” explains RaeAnn Butler, executive director of the local nonprofit.
Lew Bros. Tire Center, known for their commitment to the community, has offered to help with the diaper need for local, at-risk children. Every spring and fall, the tire center offers support by hosting a diaper drive. Lew Bros. has yet to turn down the offer when it comes to helping out our local children and families in need!
Unopened packages of diapers and wipes can be donated from March 17th through March 31st. While all diapers and wipes are welcomed, preferred sizes are 4, 5, 6, and pull-ups. Items can be taken directly to Lew Bros. Tire Center located at 210 Bridge Street in Baker City, between the hours of 8:00 am to 6:00 pm Monday through Friday, and 8:00 am to 5:00 pm on Saturday.
Without community support, the Nursery would not be successful. Baker Relief Nursery offers a combination of free services, including therapeutic classrooms for children birth to five, home visits to provide individual support to parents, along with emergency services such as the diaper bank that’s available to all enrolled families.
