PENDLETON – The Pendleton Development Commission’s Path to Success competition was a success. PDC Associate Director Charles Denight said that the plan is to do it again, but nothing has been firmed up as far as details.
In the competition, people who wanted to open businesses in the downtown area could write their business plans and enter them into the competition. A total of 32 business plans were entered.
“The business people selected four winners out of 32 that applied for this,” Denight said. “Those four winners now all have thriving businesses on Main Street. We just met with them a few weeks ago.”
Denight said the meetings will continue in order to offer advice to the winners. The four showed that they could invest $5,000 and the Pendleton Development Commission then gave them $20,000 in startup funds as well. Because the funds come from urban renewal dollars, the businesses being proposed must locate in downtown Pendleton.
Denight said a call for entries will be announced as soon as the PDC has all the details in order and the funding is available.
