MONUMENT – Irene Jerome with Grant County Firewise recently told KJDY listeners on the Coffee Time program that the Top Road Firewise Community out of Monument is getting national recognition for their cross-boundary fire mitigation work:

“We have a large cross-boundary project we’re working on with Top Road, and the Bureau of Land Management and the Heppner Ranger District on the Umatilla [National Forest]. They’re super excited about it.

This is the type of thing you hear about nationally now, you’ll hear it — ‘cross-boundary work.’

It’s very exciting, and we’re going to meet again on Saturday. They’re going to have their annual Firewise Day.”
