Secretary of State’s Office Releases 2023 Audit Plan

OREGON – (Release from the Oregon Secretary of State’s Office) SALEM, OR — Secretary of State Shemia Fagan released the 2023-24 audit plan. The plan previews the Oregon Audits Division’s work over the next two years.
Beginning this year, several audits will include an objective assessing the risks associated with the “time tax.” The time tax refers to the amount of time and effort Oregonians spend filling out applications, finding something on a state website, waiting in lines, or waiting on the phone, in an attempt to receive critical government services.
The Secretary’s plan calls for several new performance audits, including:
- Sexual Health Care and Reproductive Access, multiple agencies
- Student Success Act District Performance Monitoring, Department of Education
- Adult Protective Services, Oregon Department of Human Services
- Children’s Mental Health Services, Oregon Health Authority
The Secretary’s plan also carriers over ongoing projects from 2022, including:
- Medicaid Pharmacy Benefit Managers, Oregon Health Authority
- Rental assistance program, Oregon Housing and Community Services
- State workforce governance and modernization, multiple agencies
- Oregon’s red flag policy, Department of Justice
Secretary Fagan and the Oregon Audits Division presented the 2023-24 Audit Plan to the Joint Legislative Audits Committee on February 20, 2023.
